Barrett's Reef Buoy

The proposal to establish a new buoy on Barrett's Reef, where the Wanganella was stranded, was included in the Gazette of July 25, 1946, in a notiee to mariners. On September 23, when the buoy was put in place, a further notice to mariners was issued. It was learned yesterday in shipping circles thatcopies of the Gazette containing1* notices to mariners are settt to the offices of the various- marino superintendents at New Zealand porfs, to similar offices in the principal Australian States, to the bydrographer at the Admiralty, London. All charts issued after notices to mariners -have been published would be amended before isfsue. Pefsons in possession of charts tisually made the necessary alterations.
