INCREASED EGG PRICES

(JHR 1 STCH U-R CH, Jan. 27. Approval of increases in tlie price of eggs has been given by the' Direetor of Stabilisation, Mr. L. C. Webb, after reviewing the cost of production and a survoy by the New Zealand Poultry Board. Mr. J. W. McGrlinchy, ehairman of the board, received the following decisions today; "The subsidy on /eggs passing through official eggs floors is to be increased from 3d to 4d a dozen, the rptail price of eggs to be increased from 2d per dozen in the North' Island and 4d per dozen in the South Island. The present temporary subsidy of Id per dozen on eggs- passing through South Island floors is to be cancelled as from. the date the new provisions become operative." Mr. McGlinchy explained that the increase of the retail price by 4d in the South Island was additional to the seasonal increase of 2d a dozen announced today. A Price' Drder bringing in the 4d increase was unlikely to be iSsued before next week. The new increases would make prices equal in the North Island and South Island*
