SHOW OPENS FRIDAY

Many Notabte Attractions TTiis Year Possibly the most outstanding . date of tne year in the Horo- - whenua dist'rict is Friday, January 31, for it marks the opening of the A. and P. Association's annual agriculturai show, an event which has created considerable interest amonc/ stock breeders iil many parts- of the North Island. This year's show promises to be a really outstanding one and entry figures published recently indicated that a new record has been established. In the home industries seetion alone, entries have been received from Auckland to Nelson. Of particular interest will be a demomstration by two eight horse waggon teams. In the sheep dog trials 15 dogs have so far been entered, and the first three dogs placed in tnis event will give a public exhibition of their prowess on People's Day (Saturday) . The cattle seetion is of course the strongest. This district is noted for the fine standard of cattle it produces, and considerable outside interest is evoked in this seetion. Wairarapa and Manawatu are strongly represented among the outside districts who are anxious to exhibit- at this year's show. No. efforts have been spared to makes the event an outstanding success. All sections of the community will be catered for. Highland dancing, competitions, sideshows and educational exhibits are only a f raction %of the numerous attractions offering. Eighteen marching teams, of which seven are from Horowhenua, seven from the Wairarapa and four from Wellington, will be in attendance. Included in the outside teams is Pringle's from Pahiatua, which recently secured second place in .the Dominion championships. Local stock breeders, farmers and business and community organisations have worked hard to make this 'show a really outstanding event in Horowhenua's history. All that is now required, is the wholehearted support of the public and satisfactory weather conditions.
