While his claim to have discovered a gold reef in the "Whitianga district is still causing excitement througliout tlie Coromandel Peninsula, the Maori bulldozer driver, Mr. McLean, is still keeping the exact location of liis reX>orted find a elose secret. When Mr. McLean 's report was lieard in Whitianga, there were only four application forms for miners' riglits in the post office, and these were quickly taken with the result that Mr. McLean had to travel to Thames to obtain one for himself. It is learned lie subsequently went to Paeroa and Te Aroha to complete working contracts in wliicli he was engaged, leaving aequaintances and everybody else in speeulation as to the location of the supposed reef. Mr. McLean is expected to return to "Whitianga at the week-end to make the initial arrangements about working his claim.
