EXECUTIVE'S ACTION IN RECENT WATERFRONT DISPUTE

WELLINGTON, Jun. 23. The secretarv of the New Zealand Eederation of Labour (Mr. Iv. Baxter) issued the folloAving statement today: "The extraordinary conference of the New Zealand Eederation of Laboui which commenced on Tuesday morniug terminated at midday today. Approxi mately 210 delegatcs alteudod. The Eriiuc Minister (Mr. Eraser), the Miu ister of Eiuancc (Mr. Nash), and Ihe .Minister of Labour (Mr. A. McLagan) were invited to attend and received au attentive hearing. The conference endorsed the action of the national executive in calling an extraordinary cont'erence of delegalec i'rom aftiliated uuions tu consider the waterfront dispute and its effecls ou the Labour inovemeiit and the economj of the Doiuinion. Tlie coni'eroiice carried the following resolutiou by au u v er whol mi ng mujori ty : "That this extraordinary conference of the Ncw Zealand Fcdcration of Labour in accord with the nnanimous dccision of its 1916 annual conference that ' afliliations shall exploifc all avc.nues of scttlement before taking strike action' approves thc action taken by thc national executive in . conncction with the watersiders* dispute. "Resolutions on matt'TH in connec tion Avith stabilisatiun and other ques tions were rcl'erred to a special aiceting of thc national council in Eebruary. "
