Following a new outbreak of sabotage on Trinidad's oilfields and a clasli between strikers and the' poliee, tlie Governor (Sir Bede Clifford) proclaimed a state of emergeney tliroughout Trinidad. Fifteen poliee were injured in tlie clasli including tlie Poliee Commission er. Col. Angus Aluler. Sevcnty five strikers were arrested. The sabotage occnrred at Point Fortin where several oiltanks on Ihe Trinidad Petroleum Development Company's field were. set oa fire.
