WAR ON BLACKMARKET BUILDERS

The Works Minister (Mr. Tomlinson) in dectaring war 011 btackmarket builders announced that he had made ari order empowering loeal authorities to talie proceedings tlieinselves against buildiijg eontrol offenders instead of conlining Ihe prosecution powers to ihe Ministry. It was lielieved the labour had been paid, but when challenged they insisted that- the labour was unpaid aird afterwards it had been inipossible to trace the labour emploved or obtain the necessary legal evidence for- proseeutions. He* thouglit the new decisions would stop "a lot of illegal building.
