Cousens. who was Ihe central fignre in a trial for allegcd treason, has been caiicellcd by tlie (iovernor-denerat in-Council. A statement issued by the Hinister of the Ariny (Mr. Chambers) says: "On 12/12/40 I announced that niv military advisers after examining voluminous doeunients relating to the case of Oousens had reaehed a decision which had my approval and wliich has been conveyed to Oousens. In view of Ihe public interest, .1 think it desirable to state that Oousens was Valled on to show cause wli.v liis commission sliould not be eancelled and he replied ai length.
