Chlorine and its compounds are manufaetured in the factory and are used cxtensivelv in wateipurifieation. Many country water supply systems face contamination unless. adequate sipiplies of chlorine liecome availahle. Otlier results oi; the strike have been the loss of eaustic soda production with its eonsequent effect 011 soap shortage. Tlie cessation oi' the nianul'acture oi ziiic chloride is affectiug liattery and radio production, and there are sliortages oi ascorbic acid and I)1)T.
