ENTRIES EXCEED 2100

Horowhenua's Annual Show - NEW RECORD ESTABLISHED Expectations of a record show this year appear to be well foimded. Tentative figures l-eleased today by the secretary of the Horowhenua A. and P. Association, Mr. J. E. Fullarton, reveal increased entries in the majority of sections and a general overall increase of 57. Last year's total of-2048 was an all-time record, and this year's aggregate of 2105 establishes a new record. The following are the figures for the various sections, those for last year's fixture being given for comna.rative nurnoses: —

The cattle section is again very strong, this year's total constituting a record. Pig and horse entries are also in the record class. Home industries have fallen considerably, but it must be remembered that last year's total in this class was an exceptional one. - Among the many and varied attractions at this year's show will be the appearance of a number of marching teams, Judd's * and Pringle's, of Pahiatua, being among the outside teams represented. Two eight-horse teams owned by Messrs.. W. A. McLeavey and R. Craig will be on. display, and on People's Day the "flrst three dogs in the open trials will demonstrate their prowess.1 Mr. D. A. Stuart, of Heatherlea, has signified his intention o'f exhibiting a pen of Dorset Horn sheep. Added to these attractions will be a host of exhibits/notably those of the Federated Farmers, Manawatu Catchment Board and Massey Agricultural College. The Palmerston North Garrison Band will also be in attehdance, together with the Levin Municipal Ba-nd. The show authorities have worked hard to rnake this year's event one of the most outstanding ever held, and it is hoped that their .efforts will be compensated by a large attendance of the public and favourable weather conditions.
