BURMESE DISCUSSIONS

LONDON, Jan. 17. Two meetings at Ten Doivning Street between the Burmese leaders and Mr. Attlee and Cabinet Miuistcrs arranged for today have been postponed until Monday, says lieuter's poiitical correspondent. It- is uuderstood that the meeting yesterday eonsidered the setting up of a Burmese Constituent' Assembly. It. is also believed that the Burmese demanded a direet eleetion and not an eleetion under the 1935 Constitution. This looks like being tlie uiajor problem of the eonversations involving constitutional issues. Other difiicult points are the handing \Over of external affairs and defonee to the central executive, the question of frontier areas which ihe Governor now administers, and full powers for the interim Government.
