CHINESE CLAIM PARACEL ISLANDS
Reeeived Sunday, 9.50 p.m. PARIS, Jan. 19. The Chinese Embassy has issued a statement declaring that the Paracel Islands some 250 miles off the coast of Indo-China are Chinese territory and China has claimed complete sovereignty over the islands which three weeks ago the Chinese forces occupied. The statement added that although French in narne the Emperor of Annam in 1938 occupied the islands and China never renounced her sovereignty over them.
