WAIPAWA TOURNEY RESULTS

WAIPUKURAU, Jan. 17. Tliero was ideal weather for the North Isiand, Hawke's Bay aud Waipawa teuuis chanipionships, the courts quickjy drying after two days of rain. No surprises resultcd, the niajority of the top-ranlcers wiuning their games. The highlight of the day was the niatch between J. A. Barry (Auckland) and J. E. Robson (Otago) and A. 8. Burns (Auckland) and M. Lanipe (Wanganui) in the men 's doubles when the f'ormer pair won (3—4, 6 — 2 to reach the quarter finals. Lanipe played a steady game but proved un^qual to the agility of the younger oppojieuts. Barry eiicited applause with his doublc-handed baclcstroke while liobson was promineut in a series of crosscourt exchanges. Results: — ■- Men's Singles. 1 Round 3: J. 0.
