4000 Gns.For Yearling Colt At Saies

WELLINGTON, Jan. 17. A New Zeaiand reeora price of 4000 gns. for a yearling colt at auction was paid by Mr. E. Moutgomery, Auckland, on the second day of the National Yearling Saies at Trentham today when he secured a Foxbridge — Rosespear colt offered by Mr. M. H. Tims, Te Awamutu. Australian buyers were again active, securing 22 lots for 19,655gns. The principal purchasers were the Sydney trainer, Mr. D. Lewis, who secured three lots for 3825gns., and Mr. W. R. Kemball, Melbourne, who bought three lots for 3350gns. During the day 94 lots were sold for 5S,445gns at an average of 596gns. 'Oue hundred and eighty-four^ lots have been sold on the first two days for an aggregate of 122,340gns., an average of 665gns. Eifteen of the 94 lots sold today realised lOOOgns. or more. Twyneham Stud, Hastings, sold nine lots for 12,125gns., an average of 1345 gns. Alton Lodge Stud, Te Kauwhata, sold 12 lots for ll,400gns. at an average of 950gns. Other colts which realised substantial prices were a Foxbridge — Hest colt 2700gns., purchased by Mr. T. Impey. Auckland; Foxbridge — Wardress at 1650gns. to Mr. W. R. Kemball; Salmagundi — Cross Questiou at 1350gns. to Mr. N. R.- Soutcr, Cambridge; Robin Goodfellow — Knocklin at 1550gns. to Mr. C. C. Davis, Christchurch; Ballocli — ^Blandsong at 1500gns. to Mr. D.
