Gedyc) who. has arrived i'roin Warsaw to report ou ISunday 's Polish elections, thus describes some of the things timi, are happening: "On totally iniproved allegations of eollabora ; tion with the Oerman s or with the present undergronnd movement; Opposition supporters are beingstruek off the electorai registers. "Wholesale strong pfessnre is! being exerted to force voters to dcclare their votes openly. Factory worlcers are asked to avoid "polling booths and hand their voting eards to (.ommtinist factory iead ers who will record them. "The Opposition is being deprived of any chance of eontrolling the eounting of votes. Loea) Opposition headijuarlers are heing constantJy attacked by gangs oi loughs. "Jn fact the wliole machiiiery of government is working a1 high pressure to ensiire that Simday's election instead • of being 'free and nnfettered' will stifle all opposition and produce certain 'victory' for the Government. Government spokesmcn asseri that they are sure of winning the elections ^because they have the support of the population'. "Nobody doulils that they will win — hands down — but the reason 1hey adduee for the antieipated victory is wholly irrelevant and the results of the polling eannoi possihly substantiate it.''
