Personal * * Miss. Rose Egdell has been appomted assistant town cierk to the Otaki Borough Council. Mr. and Mrs. C. Moore, who have been on a motor trip to Napier and other places of interest, have returned home. Mr. N. JD. Anderson, of Tasman Beach, who will relieve the town clerk, Mr. Alex Wilson while he is on leave in the near future, was present at Wednesday night's meeting of the Otaki Borough Council. Cr. Bennett was granted leave of absence from Wednesday night's meeting ' of the Otaki Borough Council on account of indisposition, while Cr. Gimblett was granted leave of absence in connection with the February meeting, it being his intention to go on holiday. The funeral of the late Rev. George Watson took place at Wellington on Tuesday, when Canon H. E. K. Fry, of Otaki, conducted an impressive ceremony. The cortege was a large and representative one, and many beautiful floral tributes were placed on the casket. The well-known Maori singer, Mr. Inia Tewiata, who shortly leaves for England to havo his voice trained, may be able to give an entertainment in Otaki aoout February 12, when the Otaki Borough Council will offer assistance. It ls.expected that Mr. Tewiata will stay in Otaki for a few days, when the Old Pupils' Association of the' Otaki State School will further entertain him. Mr. Tewiata was a pupil at the school in his young days. Ouling to Kapiti . A number of Otaki-itcs paid a visit to Kapiti today, and spcnt an enjoyable day. Fishing was the| chiei pastime. j Next Flower Show | The Otaki Horticultural and | Daffodil Society hopes to be able to hold its next flower show at 1 Raukawa Hall on February 19. . It was decided at Wednesday ! night's Otaki Borough Council ! meeting to give notice that a ten | per cent. penalty would be added to : unpaid • rates, and to take action j relative to the registration of dogs. | Collars, it was stated, were not yet available. j Wilful Damage | At Wednesday night's meeting of the Otaki Borough Council it was stated that damage had been done ! on the rest resort grounds, and that sport was freely indulged in to the detriment of the turf. It was ,considered by some councillors thkt it would be advisable to close the grounds on Sundays. It was decided that a notice of advice and warning be erected.
