MRS. ANNE JANE CHITTICK
The death occurred recently at her residence, Otaki Railway, of Mrs. Anne Jane Chittick, widow of Mr. Henry Chittick. A native of Northern Ireland, the late Mrs. Chittick was a daughter of the late Mr. William Mullan, of Blossonihill, near Fintona, County Tyrone. Coming to New Zealand in 1910 with her husband and young family, Mrs-. Chittick soon made many friends, first in Lower Hutt and Taita, and ldtterly in Otaki, where she resided for about 20 years. Mrs. Chittick was known far and near for her hospitality and generosity. A keen gardener, she grew many choice flowers and shrubs, and was never happier than when sharing her treasures. She identified herself with the work of the Presbyterian Women's Guild and the W.D.F.U., but of late was unable to take much active interest in any of these movements on account of failing health. Mrs. Chittick is survived by a family of five, George and Charles (Otaki) , Harry (Wanganui) , Mrs. S. Schuster (Miramar) and Mrs. W. North (Khandallah) . The funeral took place at Otaki and was largely attended, many coming long distances. Impressive services at the Presbyterian Church and graveside were conducted by the Rev. A. Ashwin and Rev. W. Armstrong, St. Giles', Kilbirnie. Among the many beautiful floral tributes was an outstandingly striking one from her children and grandchildren. This covered the entire casket and was composed of white lilium and Otaki pink carnati'ons, grown in her son's garden at Wanganui. The pall-bearers were Messrs. W. North and S. Schuster (sons-in-law) , E. Haywood, M. Mitchell, T. Mould and P. Whetren.
