NOTED BOWLING FAMILY

Proficiency iii the game of bowls is common in the Skoglund family, father and son of which were thira and skip respectively in the Ohahuhu rink which won the recent fours in -Wellington. Mr. Peter Skoglund's father, grandfather of the. skip, introduced bowls to the West Coast about 55 years ago, establishing a green on his own property. It was there that Mr. Peter Skoglund and his brotheas first played bowls. Two of tfie brothers, J. and A. T. Skoglund have been singles champions of the Greymouth Club. The youngest brother, Mr. K. Skoglund, plays occasionally ae Kaikohe. Mr. Peter Skoglund has won the singles championship of the Stratford Club, and the Wellington Club handicap singles irom scratch. With his son. Mr. T. T. Skoglund, he wori the Wellington Christmas fours first in 1939. Mr. S. O. Skoglund, the eldest son of Mr. Peter Skoglund has been several times champion singles player of the Manawatu Centre,, , and has also skipped the champion fours and pairs of the same centre. The youngest son, Mr. T. T. Skoglund, has been singles champion of the Wellington, Mangere and Otahuhu clubs. He has skipped the winning four at two Wellington Christmas tournaments, and two years ago skipped Nthe Otahuhu four which won the Taranaki tournament. He and his club mate, Murdoch, were the last of the two-lifers left in the singles championship of the New Zealand tournament at Auckland in 1945.'
