Plans that Premier McKell shoubl lead the New South Wales Labour Party in the State eleetions before resigning to beeoine Governor-General have now beeu completely abandoned, according to the Sydney Sun's Oanberra correspondent who says that unless something » unforesoen happens. Mr. McKell will be appointed GovernorGeneral well before the eleetions. This would necessitate the appointment of a New South Wales leader of the State Parliamentary Labour Pariy. Discussions between the British anri Australiau authorities on the appointment of the new Governor-General were described from another source as l)cing in the doldrums, but "it is undei1stood tliat nothing has emcrged that lessens Mr. McKell Js prospects".
