CADETS ARRIVE AT LINTON
WEEK OF INSTROCTION
Large numbers of officers- and n.c.o 's from secondary school cadet corps in the Central JMilitary Uistriet are assembling at LintQn Oamp for courses in infantry and artillery instruction whicli start today. These courses are of one week 's duration, similar to those that have been held during previous t'hristmas vacations. They include instruction in infantry drill and taptics, light machinegun, medium machinegun, 3-inch mortar and all the most advanced knowledge of held cominunications. At the same time-a- detaehment of M-tillery f'roffi the schools will feceive ihstriiefict$lin the "Bofors 4%lit ahti-nircriift gun."=The hburses will be conlinued throughout Sunday when spocial arrangetnents will be made for a church parade iu the morning followed -by sports, which now play a>t inereasinglv important part in Army inaTriiBtinTi.
The objeet of the courses is to give Ihe officers and n.c.o. 's sufficient specialiscd training to enable them to act as instructors during the school barraeks periods which ai'e held during I'hibruarv and March. Owing to the numbers which are attonding the courses, it will not be possible to put them through in One week, and it has been arranged that they should attcnd in two lots. The first lot, which is expected to comprise 14 officers and 170 n.c.o. % will be from military areas 5 and 8 (Wellington and Taranaki) and .the second, which will comprise a similar number, will be from areas 6 and 7 ( Wanganui-Manawatu and Hawke's Bay). Extensive arrangements have been made for the welfare of the cadets during their stav in Linton Camp. Any case of,sickness or hrjury will be attended to in the well-equipped camp hOspital where two sisters from the New Zeaiand Army Nursing Service will be in attendance during the coutse. * r ■
