MANAKAU BOY'S DEATH
, News of the sudden death in Wellington of Brian Leonard Barkla, aged 13-i-, of Manakau, must haVe Come as a great shock to his friends, teachers and fellow pupils of Horowhenua College. Master Barkla was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. L. Barkla, a well-known family in Manakau and the Horowhenua district. The deceased was spending his holidays with a friend in Wellington at. the time of his death. An ihquest was held yesterday before the Coroner, Mr. W. G. Mellish, who l'eturned a finding that deceased died as the result of heart failure. ^ A keen sportsman, he distinguish-/ ed himself at all his school's activities, and his prowess as an athlete was evident at an early stage of his school life. Though only in his first year at Horowhenua College, he was regarded as a very promising pupil and was held in high regard by all with whom he cr Aie in contact. The funeral leaves the Manakau Angliuan Church after a service at 2 p.m. tomorrow.
