NO OUTBREAK OF DYSENTERY AT FOXTON
Complaints from visitors to Foxton Beach over the holiday period have been received in regard to Ihe poor sanitary conditions there. It was reported that there had been an outbreak of dysentery among holiday-makers and that dead stoek washed down the Maiiawatu River, were lying exposed along the waterfront. Euquiries however, have proved these reports to be vasfly exaggerated. lnterviewed ycsterday the Histrict Medical Officer of Health, L)r. T. 0. I Lonie, said that he had heard of no jsuch complaints and that as far as he kuew everylhing at the beach was quite normul. The president of the Automobile Association (Mauawatu), Mr. W. *H. Brown, sujjported this. When he had inspected the camp sites yeste^day morning everything was as it should be, he said. There had been, however, the usual suggestions for improvements and oue or two isolated cases of dysentery had been reported, but this was common to all beaches over the holiday season and was due merely to a chanp'e in water supply„
