EXTENSION OF WALKOUT
Received Friday, 9.50 p.m, SYDNEY, Jan. 10. ; The management committee of the Gas Employees' Union has; been summoned to discnss proposals to settle the dispute plaeed before representatives of the strikers at a conference with the Premier (Mr. McKell) this morning. After the conference Mr. McKell said that the gas workers had agTeed to eall a meeting of the management committee which would inf o'rm him directly it had completed the discussions. Rationing has been imposed in areas largely on the North Shore where gas is still being supplied. Gas is being delivered to 60,000 of the 400,000 premises in Greater Sydney. The distribution men at the North Shore and Manly plants decided today to strike and the plants are being manned by members of the salariec^ staff . Manly has enough coal for5 a week.
