ATTITUDE OF N.Z. WORKERS' UNION
WELLINCTON Jan. 9. Replviiig to the letter from M.essrs. Brooks, Cleghora and Ward on the attitude of the New Zealand Worlcefs Union in the waterfront dispute, the general seeretary of the New Zealand Eldon (iMr. ('ari Hair) stated that all that had been done so far by the N.Z. Workers lTnion was to ash the watersiders to consider handing their ease to the Federation of Labour and that aetion had the approval of a substantial majority of the N.Z. Workers union national exeeutive. Bhould events eonnected with the dispute take a more -serious turn the management committee of the union would be called to Wellington to discus the position. • At no tiine had the Workers Union attempted to adjudicate on the merits of the elaims of the watersiders, but there did appear to be reasonahle prospects of a satisfactory settlement being achieved through their acijuiesenee in the course proposed by the Federation of Labour.
