McPherson, hq,s returned after discussions with the Australian Federal Government wheat authorities. Australia, he said, had had difficuity in keeping her 1946 contract with New Zealand. The crop was uneven in the different States, and this threw a heavy burden on the internal transport. Trans-Tas-man shipping had also been difficult. New Zealand had been obliged to take some flour instead of wheat simply because it had been on the seaboard when shipping was available. "The world wheat situation is Iikely to be difficult again "this year, largely because of transport difficulties," Mr. Webb said. These Would have to be overcome if the benefit was to be gained from the good wheat crop in North America.
