Personal - - The friends1 of Mrs. E. Chester will regret to hear she is. at present indisposed. • ' : • Mr. Leo Jenkins/ Of Mellington, spent yesterday in Shannon looking up a number of old friends. Mr. D. McDonald has returned from a holiday visit to Dannevirke and Lower Hutt,. Mr. and Mrs. North, of Plimmer Terrace, have returned from Tauranga, where they have been spending & holiday. Mr. and Mrs. Rassmusson have left on their annual liolidays, part of which they will be spending at the Foxton Beach motor camp. Mr. F. Edmonds, manager of the Bank of New Zealand, . together with Mrs. Edmonds and family, have left on a holidiy visit to Tauranga. Euchre Winners The Shannon branch of the Labour Party condpcted apother of its euchre tournaments ; in Laurvig's Hall on Friday evening. There was' a large gathering of players present in spite of the holiday season. The prize-winners Were . Mr. and Mrs. R. Andrew. ' • - • Marching Teams Resume One of Shannon's, marching teams was out last evening for its first practice since closmg down for the holidays. The girls are as enthusiastic as ever and are quite confident that they will. give a good showing at the forthcoming com-. petition at the Horowheniia show. On Saturday, January 25, an effort will be made to have both teams in uniform and they. will travel te Levin to take part in the display arranged by the Horowhenua Marching Associatiop to give the teams from Shannon and Foxton a chance to march before the public prior to facing the judges at the A. and P. show on Februarv 1
