CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 3. A stoptvork meeting of Lyttelton watersiders was held this morning to diseuss the waterfront dispute and the ultimatum from the Prime Minister, Mr. Praser, that unless normal hours of work are resumed by Monday, the Government will suspend the powers of the Waterfront Industry Commission. The meeting lasted four hours. The national seeretary of the Waterside Workers' Union, Mr. T. Hill, arrived from Wellington this morning to address the meeting. The Coronation Hall was paeked with several lmndred men and at the eonelnsion of the meeting Mr. li-JI said that the positi'on was unchanged "and the 40-hour week continnes." Asked nntil when it would contimie, he made no reply. The Lyttelton seeretary of the union, Mr. J. Fiood, would make no comment.
