HEAVY ROAD TRAFFIC

LEVIN DISTRICT HAS ABSENCE OF ACCIDENTS Exqeptionally heavy motor traffic thronged the main highways through Levin over the Christmas holidays. Many of the cars were heading northwards on camping trips to scenic resorts and a noticeable feature was the increased "use of caravans. On Boxing Day and Saturday the roads carried a large volume of race traffic. Fortunately, the Levin district emerged with a clean record as far as accidents were concerned, not a single case having been reported. The need for all motorists to exercise very great care over the New Year holidays was again emphasised today by Traffic Inspector M. Kehoe. It is expected that traffic will be even greater then than over Christmas, as holiday makers who left over several days will converge on their return journeys to resume work after the New Year.
