Russia is sending hundreds of thousands of Russians to colonies and territory acquired by Russia during the war, including South Sakhalin, the Kurile Islands, the Karelian Isthmus, East Prussia and the Baltic Republics which became member states of the Soviet Union in 1940, says the British United Press' Moscow correspondent. Nine ships during the summer months carried 18,000 collective farm famities to South Sakhalin. They were operating 23 collective farms by the time winter arrived. The "Russian newspaper Pravda says that tens .of thousands of people engaged in work other than farming have also been sent to South Sakhalin.
