Both were carefully seeking inatch practice but hit out later agaiust mediocre bowling. Hutton made his chaucelcss 133 in 191 ininutes, including seveu fours. Washbrook, giving two cliances, niade liis 115 in 204 minutes including live fours. lt was the four th century for Iiutton and the third for Washbrook. Compton hit witli abandon 7(5 in 52 minutes including 12 fours. At one stage he hit 4 fours witli successive shots. Hanunond hit two glorious sixes. Voce witlidrew witli a sprained anklo.
