DEFENCE RIFLE SHOOTING
Members of the Levin Defence Rifie Club held an opening practice shoot on Saturday over the 300; 500 and 600 yards ranges. This is the first occasion that the Levin Club has fired on its own range since 1939, and possibles were scored at 500 yards by R. R. Rolston and P. R. Catley. Rolston won Mr. P. R. Catley's trophy for the .first possible of the season. The range will be officially opened on Saturday, January 4, at 9.30 a.m., and invitations have been extended to Mr. J. J. Maher, M.P., Mr. G. P. Catley, and the patron, Mr. G. A. Monk, and also to representatives of the Ashhurst, Hautere, Ngatiawa, Petone andUpper Hutt Rifle Clubs. The shooting on Saturday will be 10 shots at 300, 500 and 600 yards range, and will commence at 10 a.m. sharp. Riflemen desiring to zero rifles must have the zero range cleared by 10 a.m. The active stre'ngth'of the club is now 35.
