APPEAL TO MINERS
Received Mondav, 7 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 22. " Mr. J. A. Hall, president of the National Union of Mineworkers, told miners at Goldthorpe, Yorkshire, that they were playing a vital part in "one of the greatest gambles in our industrial history," says Reuter. ~ - - The men were eelebrating the beating of their output target each week, apart from holidays, in the past three years. Mr. Hall said: "If we don 't give the Government coal there is just a probability that tlie Government will be .faced with an economic crisis. I am ' verv much couvineed tlrat this new nationalisation sclieme can fail ignominiously and can bring tottering down intq weakness and dismay, a strong Government. ' ' Mr. Hall called for an even greater effort and added: "Nationalisation is not going to fail. We are going to win by enthusiasm and by worlcing harder than ever." _
