Allliougli few iiskemieu have been j out in Ihe last fortnigkt, reports inrti- ■ calo that HsIl are in good eondition, slated the euuservyior oi' iish aud gaine in Kotorua, Mr. S. Maenaiuara, today. Froiu the Ohau Chaimel in the ffotorua distriet conie xeports oi' a good number of well conditioned lish and the eastern end of Lake Rotoiti has also yielded good eatehes to troiling parties. Fly iishing at the outlet of streams is not particularly good at the moment althougli small eatehes that have been niade are all in reasonably fair eondition. A similar laek of anglers is reported from the Taupo distriet where the best jishing appears to have abeen in the \\ estern Bay area. hauneli owners state that eatehes should be exeellent a little later as the majority of the iish laiuled are in good eondition. A few iish have been eaught on the fly at Pye 's eamp. At Tokaanu troiling at Stump Bay has been particularly good and some beautiful trout have been landed. The Kuratau and Tokaanu Bay areas have also yielded good sport and troiling at Mopuopa Bay and in the vieiuity of the Taura nga-Taupo Slream liad beeu oquaily good. Fishing at Delta Bay has so far proved only fair althougli the iish landed liere have been in wonder-, i'ui eondition. Cousidering that the sport is never at its best in these areas at this timo of the year, said Mr. Macnamara, the results were eneouragiug. Troiling at the southem end of Lake Taupo has been all that could have been desired and anglers should iind this area particularly proliiic a little later on. From Whakatane come reports of a great number of small iish. All, notwithstancling, are in exeellent eondition. There have been few anglers in this distriet Jatelv but it is expected that the sport should also improve greatly in the near future. Some nice eatehes have been niade at Waikaremoana, iish up to 61bs. having beeu landed on the troll, and conditions there also augur well for a good season.
