Received Fridav, 10.25 p.m. SYDNEY, Dec, 20. A 16 vears old youth who -shot at the poliiie when surrouiuled in scrub in a Sydney suburb was sentenced todav to 12 vears' penal servitude. The prisoner, Alexander ITenrv Mitchell, was given a jury's recommendation for niercy but Mr. Justice Kirby said that the term of imprisonment must be severe to meet the seriousness of the crime. In evidonce Sei'geant Gee said that he fired two shota into the scruh. A shot in reply almost knocked his pistol from his liand.
