'• The followuig resolutions were passed l»v the Council of the New Zealand Law Society"" at a recent meeting: "That the Council of the New Zealand Law Society make representations to the Government exprcssing disapproval of the growing practice of confurring, by statute, the status of Supreme. Court Judge upon persons appointed to preside ovcr Courts or tribunals other than the Supreme Court, as the council is of the opinion that such a practice results in the lowering of the prestige and dignitv which should attach to the office of a Supreme Court Judge. ' ' ' ' lliat the council make representa- . tion to the Government with a view to obtnining ,a 'proper dilferentiation in 'salary between Jiidges of the Supreme' Court and other persons who hold some office to which the status of Supreme Court Judge h:js been attached by statute.
