MINERS TO WORK HOLIDAYS
AUCKLAND, Dec. 20. Huntly 's three opencast mines at Kimihia, Glen Massey and G-len Afton, will be in full production throughout the Christmas and New Year period, while all the orthodox mines are closed for the holidays. ±"uily geared to belp meet the demands of railways, freezing works, dairy factores and steam power stations, the opencast mines have been working^' 12 hours a day during the good weather of the last six weeks and the men have voted to continue | coal winning, and in the cases of | Glen Afton and Glen Massey, the ; stripping of the overburden of ,soil j and clay from new seams during the j holidays.
