The. sidings will be known as "overtaking bays" and will be the lirst tried out on the narrow northeru highway between Auckland and Warkworth. It is proposed that a slow driver who holds ui) tratiic, shouhl use these bays to allow quicker vchicles to go ahead. The sidings will be supervised by Transport Department otlicers during the holidays and if the experiment is s.uccessfui, it will be applied to other higliwavs, parl iciilarly on the AucklandIlainilton route.
