RED CROSS SUB-CENTRE
There was a good attendance of members at the December meeting of the Shannon Red Cross Subcentre, held on Tuesday afternoon. The secretary, Mrs. Creagh, leported that a small consignment of food for Britain had been sent forward to Palmerston North. Arrangements were made to dispense small gifts as a special Christmas cheer to all local folk in hospital during the Christmas period, and also to a number of sick folk In the district. Knee-caps, ditty bags and face cloths for Awapuni Hospital were handed in, and the committee was fortunate in securing a quantity of sweets for distribution to the patients. Two more subscribers to the Red Cross- Magazme v^ere enrolled.. The. tlioughtfuh action o'f a member i:n' bringing fresh gi-own vegetables to the meeting, to be sold. for Red' Cross funds, was greatly appreciated. It was decided that the committee should not meet again until February and members took the opportunity of extending season's greetings to the warious organisations working in conjunction with them.
