BOWLING MATTERS
N.Z. COUNCIL'S MEETING A meeting of the council executive of the New Zealand Bowling Association was held recently, the president, Mr. T. Lock, occupying the chair. The Marlborough, North Otago and Nelson Centres wrote advising that they were in favour of the green research conference. Approval was given to the Manawatu Centre holding a pairs tournament on December 27 and 28 and a fours tournament on January 1 and 2. The Victorian Bowling Association cabled asking if any entries had been received for the Australian carnival. It was decided to reply that owing to transport and other diffiiulties, no entries had been accepted. The entries for the tournament were notified as foliows: Singles 615, pairs 520 and fours 304. Mr. R. Stewart Brown advised that a team of bowlers was visiting U.S.A. ea,rly in 1947 and suggested that a visit to New Zealand might be possibly considered for the 1948 season. If agreeable the proposal would be submitted to the International Bowling Boards for consideration. It was decided to reply that the New Zealand Bowling Association viewed with favour the sending of a team "of bowlers to New Zealand during the 1947-1948 season, and a letter to this effect is o be forwarded.
