Pravda 's Irkutsk correspondent savs I nearly 000,000 prisoners of war in- j cluding 800,000 Japanese and about j 2,000,000 Germans, Italians, Hungariansj and Finns are working on the new railway line linking Europeau Russia with j Siberia. The western terminus will be situated on the left bank of the Volga and tlie eastern terminus will be at i Taishet 400 miles northwest of Lakei Baikal. The new line traverscs the heavy industry centres in the Ivutnetsk coal basin.
