BOMB THREAT TO PALACE
STEPS TO TRACE "MAN WITH GRUFF VOICE" Received Wednesday, 11.15 a.m. LONDON, Dec. 17. The latest bomb threat has been to Buckingham Palace. A message received bv the telephone exchange was passed on to Scotland Yard and precautions were taken, but nothing suspicious was found. Every available policeman has been detailed to track down "the man with the gruff voice" who in the last four davs has made twenty threats that various places would be blown up. Scotland Yard believes the calls are made by irresponsible hoaxers, but the danger of the threats is that each compels officers of the under-strength police force to make long searches when needed for other duties. The Daily Express says from now on it will not print news of the telephoned false alarms. "We won't encourage Jew baiters who seek to besmirch Jewry * upd cause public resentment. We won't encourage misguided Zionists who seek to further their political ends by threats of violence. We won't encourage weak-minded practical jokers."
