OTAKI MAORI RACING CLUB

The Otaki Maorl Racing CJub's summer meeting was held on ■ Saturday in glorious weather, and was very iargely attended, visitors being Ipresent in large numbers from Wellington, Hawke's Bay and Wairlarapa districts. The appointments jwere most ably carried out by Mr. 'Nepia Winiata, secretary, and his jcapable staff, while the stewards Irendered valuable assistance. The i course, thanks to the caretaker, Mr. Albert Mita, was in tip-top order. The racing was most interesting, there being several close finishes, ; thus reflccting credit on the handijcapper, Mr. A. V. O'Brien, while the jstarting of Mr. W. Price was satisjfactory, despite the fact that he ihad several fractious horses to deal | with. I There wero one or two subjstantial dividends, one almost i Teaching the century mark. W. J. Broughton was the most suceessful l.iockey at the meeting. riding three firsts, a second and a third.
