STORM DOES MUCH DAMAGE
Received Sunday, 7.40 p.m. - • SYDNEY, Dec. 15. A violent tlmnderstorm which. struck Sydney yesterday afternoon, damaged twelve houses and two large stores. Within a few minutes the wind reached 78 miles an hoiu: With a funnel-like centre which passed through the suhurh of Marrickville tearing roofs off six houses and a fitrniture store. Heavy rain and hail accompanied the storm ahd lightning struck overhead poweliines, dislocp,ting train and trolley hus services, Tliirty-two poiqts of raii^ wore recorded in the city where, within an hqur, the temperature dropped front 91.2 to 72 degrees. . One map collapsed and died during the storm and there were many n&rrow escapes from injury hy falling "brickwork and rooflng material. A trawler hroke from its mooripgs at Rose Bay hut was takejx in tow hefore going ashore.
