GOT A LITTLE OF OWN BACK

About 100 British soldiers, armed with truiicheous and. sticks, stormed through the ceutre of Padua \*estenlay overturning civilian cars, siuashingshopwindows and assaulting civilians in repiisal for Ihe previous da.v 's anti-Bri-tish denionstrations, says the Italian News Agency Ansa. One italian soklier was killed and at least ten civilians injured, some severeh*. An oflicial statement from G.II.Q. Padua says tiie trouble began when the troops whose vehicles were stoned and burnt in Ihe previous day's rioting, left barracks eontrary to orders, with the object of making a protest to G.H.Q. Their passage through tlie town attracted the hooligan elenients and setiiries occurred. A few shop windows were smashed. After making their protest, tlie troops were aiklressed by a staff otiicer and sulisequently returned to barracks in military transports.
