WATERSIDERS DEMAND PAID HOLIDAYS

Svdney waterside workers at a meetwig today, passed a resolution that if paid holidays were not granted by .January .10, the Federal Council of the Union will decide the date for an Aus-tralian-wide waterfront strike. The eutire Australian waterfront- was paralvsed today by a 24 liour stoppage by waterside workers aiul shijiping ■•lcrks as a protest against the non-in-iroduction of annual leave with pay. A meeting of waterside workers iii Sydnev passed a resolution calling on M r. ( ,'hifley ' ' to play his part to see that '-lie present position was altered and '.ha) proniises nui(,le by Jum and ,by ,AJ f, ''urtin and mauy of his Cabinet Alinisters, are kept. " The resolution also ealled on (he Gov-•M-nnient to take action forthvvith to overcomo the tactics of shipowners, by uationalising the Australian shipping i n d ustrv.
