BLEDISLOE MEDAL AWARDED
CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 10. The Bledisloe Medal for 194G has been awarded to Mr, A. Briscoe Moore. of Mangaroa, Pipiwai, 27 miles inland from Whangarei. Approving the award the Bbard of Governors of Canterbury Agricultural College, Lincoln, expressed the view that Mr. _ Moore richly deserved the distinction for his own farming eft'orts and for his public service in advancing agriculture. Mr. Moore attended Canterbury Agricultural College from 190S to 1910, taking a diploma, and then spent 2J years in South Canterbury and tliree years in North Otago 011 sniall farms. He had three years' service overseas with the Auckland Mounted Rifles and on his return took a block of 1900 acres of virgin bush eountry at Pipiwai. This he has cleared and developed, building his homestead from timber on the property, until now his farin has about T500 acres in grass and carries 2000 sheep and 270 cattle. The reeommendation to the award says he has shown the potentialities of tlie North Auek-a land bush and gumland* ^
