RECORD IN AIR PASSENGERS
AUCKLAND, Dec. 10. What is probably a record number of passengers ever to arrive in New Zealand by air from overseas, was carried by the Pan-American Airways clipper Behring which landed at Whenuapai from San Francisco this afternoon with 35 passengers aboard. In her cargo hatch the clipper carried 12SGlbs. of mail, the heaviest consignment of mail the company has yet brought from Ainerica. Under the conimand of Captain J. Anderson, the clipper brought a large number of American and Australian businessmen and several New Zealanders returning from business visits and holidaj's in the United States and Britain. Accouipanying Captain Anderson were- two other pilots, Captains F. K. Schader and G. D, Rohrbaugh, who are f-aniiliarising tliemselves with the South Pacific route and wlio will later conimand clippers on tlie service. Of the total mail load, 9541bs. was en route to Australia and 3301bs. for New Zealand. In addition the clipper earried 6191bs. of general frelglit. The Behring will leave 011 its return flight for San Francisco on Thursday morning.
