J. Galvin. The serretary of the Council, Mr. E. P. Aldridge, said today that the reason for Ihe decision was that the CounciJ did not eonsider Jones was entitled to a larger purse. Mr. Galvin said ihe* eonsidercd the decision unjust to both men and could easily alfect the match, tending to lower it in the estimation of the public. Murphy had already fought against local talent for £500 purses and was now asked to fight fof'a lower aniotxnt, a man who had been unbeaten in five matches in Australia. -
