Personal m Mr. c. G. Anderson, of who has been appointed postmaster at Otaki, arrived yesterday to take up his new duties. Master Goode, who has been in hospital in Palmerston Nortli on account of a broken leg, returned home last night. Garden Party • Tne Methodist Ladies' Guild will hold a garden party at the residence' of Mrs. Synnott next Saturday, when various stalls will be in evidence. If wet the function will be held in the Anglican Hall. Fire Destroys Whare The siren sounded an alarm last night at about 9 o'clock on account of a fire in Man Lee's one-room whare in Mill Road. The brigade was promptly on the scene, but the fire had such a hold that nothing cculd be saved. There was no one home at the time and the origip of the fire is a mystery. Otaki Races The Otaki Maori Racing Club's spring meeting will be held next Saturday, and as the fields include leading horses of the Dominion there should be interesting racing. The course is in tip-top order, the . caretaker, Mr. Albert Mita, having spared no trouble in its preparation. Other appointments, under the able guidance of Mr. Nepia Winiata and a fine staff of officials, are receiving every attention.
