FAREWELL PRESENTATION
POPULAR GOLFERS HONOURED Members ' of the Buckley Golf Club gathered in ;the clubhouse on Saturday evening to bid farewell to Mr. and. Mrs. Tqm Boon, two of their keenest members who are leaving the district. * A delightful. evening was ' spent, and at a suitable juncture the vicepresident of the club, Mr. R. S. ■ Downes, took the opportunity of expressing the club's. Tegret that they were losing Mr. and Mrs. Boon. Mr. Downes said that Mr. Boon had always been a valued member of the club, and had gone to a lot of trouble in preparing .trophies. Wet or fine, Mr. and Mrs. Boon were always present to help .the club along. Mr. Downes- also made reference to the fact - that Mrs. Boon had been one of the keenest lady members. He then asked Mr. Boon to accept a set of pyrex dishes as a small mark f)f appreciation from a grateful club, and wished them every happiness and success in their new home. Mr. Don Higgie endorsed Mr. Downes' remarks* and also, as a member of the Mangaore Club, expressed thanks for what Mr. and Mrs. Boon had don'e for the game of golf in this district. He added his personal regards and wished them every success for the future. In replying on behalf of Mrs. Boon and himself Mr. Boon stated that it had always been a pleasure to be connected' with the Buckley Club. and he would miss the many friends he had inade during his stay in Shannon, both on and off the links. He expressed a wish that the club would continue to prosper, and hoped it would have a suecessful season next year. The ladies of the club provided a most enjoyable supper and the singing of "Auld Lang Syne" brought a very delightful evening to a close.
